[ Maybe an exaggeration. But Wirrawee doesn't exactly have miles of sewers for dinosaurs to hide, and livestock would be a magnet for them, wouldn't it? And if farmers knew to watch out... They'd be ready, with guns. ]

Or everyone did. Memes like that 'ave their own power, you know. It's why we 'ave people 'ere that are perfectly real, flesh and blood, that are characters in books and comics and movies on other worlds.

Time travel's a bit like that. There's a theory that by its very nature, time travel were invented at every point in history simultaneously.

...all right, that doesn't quite work out in practise, but the theory's got a kind of truth to it. Every species that's got a stated concept of time passing comes up with the idea, at least.
